Ever longing for meaning in both the mere and the grand, cultures across the globe have interpreted the various patterns of the night stars through the lenses of their myths, seeing a fearsome bear here or a woman sitting on a chair there.

Over time, the most famous and common of these have been distilled down into what are now the 88 internationally recognized constellations (groups of stars that appear to form distinct patterns or shapes in the night sky, Cambridge Dictionary).

Welcome to The Crazy 88! This website is designed to help you learn a little something about the 88 constellations internationally recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). You can also sign-up to track your progress in personally searching for and locating all the constellations. (Good luck!) There is also a contact form if you desire to reach out with a question or comment. To aid your constellation exploration, we provide some external resources which you can use for additional information and different points of view.

This site is a showcase for a common stack of web technologies. Under the hood, this site uses HTML 5 for structuring, CSS 3 and Bootstrap 5 for styling, JavaScript for dynamic DOM updating and other front-side functionality, nodeJS for back-end page serving and database interfacing, and MongoDB for storing image and user information.
